Snow Story: Dusting Of Snow Leads To 180-Plus Wrecks: Central Indiana got only a dusting of snow late Tuesday night, but the aftermath led to treacherous driving conditions. This story reminds me of the first time I left the road. It was 1989, I was 16, newly licensed, and driving my parents’ 1984 Dodge Omni on one of those highway on-ramps that circle around for about a mile. Thanks to a light dusting of snow and probably some ice on the ramp, I was no longer on it. I slid backwards down a (thankfully not too steep, but steep enough) hill and ended up having to accelerate up the hill and immediately slow down to avoid going down the other side. Fortunately, I was back on the ramp after a few attempts.
