World Weather: National day of prayer called for rain in Australia
Heat Burst-Like Event In N. Texas: It wasn’t expected, but just before a strong cold front moved into North Texas late Tuesday night, the temperature at the WXnation weather station in far north Fort Worth jumped up from 68.6 degrees to 73 degrees in only 12 minutes (11:41 p.m. to 11:53 p.m.). As a result, highs in the low 70s were reported at many locations for Wednesday, even though the temperatures only reached the low 50s later in the day. See the detailed data for Tuesday and Wednesday. Note: The wind gusts were stronger than reported by the weather station — in the 40-45 mph range, not 26 mph. (I need a better location for the anemometer).
