Hurricane Emily Update: Hurricane Emily is expected to hit Mexico just south of the Texas border Wednesday morning as a major hurricane. In the 6 p.m. CDT update, Emily was upgraded to a Category 3 storm with 125 mph maximum sustained winds. The worst for South Texas will include flooding as some areas could see 10 to 15 inches of rain, and tropical storm-force winds. I’ve noticed this evening that Emily appears to be slowing down to a crawl — at least it looks that way in the latest NWS radar loop.
