Ivan Makes Landfall Near Port Arthur, Texas
The remnants of Hurricane Ivan, which made a giant loop and formed Tropical Storm Ivan in the Gulf of Mexico with 45 mph winds, came ashore near Port Arthur, Texas Thursday night. In the Tropical Prediction Center‘s 10 p.m. CDT Thursday advisory, Ivan was downgraded to a tropical depression with 35 mph winds. Rainfall accumulations of 5 to 10 inches — with isolated higher amounts — are possible in Ivan’s path. See the projected track, which takes it around Houston and down to Corpus Christi by Sunday.
