Tropical Storm Rita Nears Florida Keys, May Affect TX Or LA By Friday: Latest National Hurricane Center advisory, and forecast track, which puts Rita, expected to become a hurricane tonight, somewhere in or just south of the Florida Keys by Tuesday as a Cat. 1 or 2 hurricane. Rita then moves into the Gulf of Mexico and heads toward Texas by Fri./Sat. [Most forecast track models place it in the Houston area; one has it west of New Orleans].
