Wilma Weakens Slightly To Category 4 Hurricane: Wilma, which grew into a monster overnight Tuesday, becoming the most powerful hurricane ever in the Atlantic Basin, has weakened some from maximum sustained winds of 175 mph Wednesday to 150 mph in the 7 p.m. CDT advisory, making it a strong Category 4 hurricane. The latest 5-day forecast track takes Wilma near or along the coastline of the Yucatan Peninsula by mid-day Friday, possibly as a Cat. 5, and then into southwest Florida and across S. Florida by Sunday as a Cat. 2 or higher hurricane, though the forecast track could change.
