With toll rising, California braces for more rain: Slides, avalanches, traffic accidents claim at least 9 lives … A total of 33.09 inches of rain has fallen in Los Angeles since July 1, when California begins its yearly rainfall measurements. National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for NW San Diego County
I love coming across words that I’ve never seen before, such as the following taken from Storm socks mid-Michigan with a foot of snow: “The zzizszszsz! of spinning tires, the ker-chank! of snow shovels, the gutsy growl of massive snowplows, the depressing whhoompfff! greeting drivers who didn’t quite have the momentum to blast through the snow at the ends of driveways all were common sounds.”
A lovely way to describe “rain, hail, lightning, and straight-line winds, leaving behind a lot of damage”: A rainbow of severe weather in Alabama
Iran earthquake death toll at least 420
