GOES Gulf Of Mexico Visible Satellite. Links to updated imageHurricane Emily Update: Hurricane Emily is expected to hit Mexico just south of the Texas border Wednesday morning as a major hurricane. In the 6 p.m. CDT update, Emily was upgraded to a Category 3 storm with 125 mph maximum sustained winds. The worst for South Texas will include flooding as some areas could see 10 to 15 inches of rain, and tropical storm-force winds. I’ve noticed this evening that Emily appears to be slowing down to a crawl — at least it looks that way in the latest NWS radar loop. A big slow-down would not be good news, as it would lead to additional flooding. Get the latest images and data in the red box to the right. Here are some other resources:
