Tropical Storm Cindy Heads For U.S. Gulf Coast: Maximum sustained winds are now up to 70 mph, and landfall is expected tonight into Wednesday anywhere from Louisiana over to the Florida Panhandle. Check out the latest data and images automatically updated from the Tropical Prediction Center in the red box to the right. Story: Tropical storm watch issued for La., Miss. and more stories. 2 Tropical Storms Form Today: Two tropical depressions became tropical storms Tuesday, and both are heading for the United States. TD #3 is now Cindy, and TD #4 Dennis, which may head into the Gulf of Mexico as a hurricane by the weekend.

Tropical storm brewing in Gulf … This headline reminds me of an occasion at my daytime TV Web site job. Way back in 2000, my co-worker published a headline that was supposed to read “Storm Brewing In The Gulf Of Mexico” but a line-break in the code cut off the last four letters. For a short while, the story online read, “Storm Brewing In The Gulf Of Me”

Other Weather News: Storms bring tornadoes, hail to South Carolina

I thought I’d snapped an amazing lightning bolt image last month, but this one taken in D.C. by Capital Weather/Weatherbook.com’s Kevin Ambrose is incredible!

Whoops!
